Attention Direct Payments and Individualised Budgets Users! Did you know your not entitled to Legal Aid!

Posted by: MCIL Admin on 11th August 09

Do you know that if you are on Direct Payments or Individualised Budgets you are not entitled to Legal Aid in any employment issues?

This means that if you employ you own Personal Assistant (P.A.) and you have a Legal dispute with the P.A. you have to pay for all your own legal costs.

What do you think about this?

Do you think this is unfair?
Does it give you concerns?

Typical! :(

Is legal help in the insurance we take out? Mine is Fish!

Wondering if legal help would be on house insurance

Hi Marie,

Fish insurance has a telephone number you can ring to ask for advice on how to handle a situation, as long as you follow the directions given to you word-for-word by your insurer you should be covered and you haven`t acted without advice.

MCIL also offer Training on how to be a good employer that can prevent you experiencing legal problems by giving you information to stop you from performing actions that would open you up to legal difficulties.

The course includes the following:

Thank you for directing me to the appropriate phone number.

I like the look of your courses and hope to attend those that do not clash with my appointments and child care.

I personally feel knowledge is useful for us protecting ourselves and our PA by treating them fair. Happy PA means we are cared for with kindness.
