Fairer Charging in Liverpool, do you think it`s fair?
Posted by: MCIL Admin on 11th August 09
If you use any social services (such as Direct Payments or Day Centre hours) you will have to pay a charge for your care.
If you have received your Fairer Charging assessment can you tell us if you think the results of it were fair/reasonable?
Do you know that you can appeal if you think you are being asked to pay too much?
You can appeal to have the cost of any disability related expenditure (extra costs that you incur that a non disabled person wouldn`t) taken into account in the amount you are charged which can help lower the amount you may have to pay.
Please post your comments

In my case I have put an appeal in but they automatically deduct the contribution just got my restbite allowance a whole £1.26. Why did I even bother to ask?

Hi Marie,
When you put an appel in you contribution payments should be stopped until an investigation is complete. You initial charging assesment just takes into account your incoming, not your outgoing which the appeal should cover

Thank you for your advice and I have now received a letter returning the deducted money, It was a relief to find that they will investigate out goings.
Now I am hoping my out goings will be the right type to be counted as part of my care. I have appreciated your help, I am also open to any advice from folks on the items considered care in out goings.
I will be glad when its all decided because the worry is not good for my health!
